Getting started cleaning your email lists in Customer.io in real-time is easy with mailfloss. Once a Customer.io webhook is set up, you can let mailfloss automatically clean your email lists with Customer.io as email addresses enter your system, in real-time. Here’s how to do that.
Step 1. Visit the integrations page
Visit the integrations page by clicking on “Integrations” in the left sidebar.
Step 2. Ensure you are on the Customer.io Integration tab
Step 3. Click the Superfloss switch, a popup will appear with a webhook URL, copy it.
You will need to login to Customer.io for the next step.
Step 4. In Customer.io, click Campaigns in the left sidebar
Step 5. Click the Create Campaign button
Step 6. Name and create the campaign
Step 7. Click "A person meets conditions" and create an email exists segment (recommended, instructions here) or use the existing "Valid Email Address" segment.
Step 8. Click Save & Next
Step 9. Add the "Send and Receive Data" workflow item and then click to edit it once it has been added to the workflow
Step 10. Click Add Request
Step 11. Paste the webhook URL copied from step 3 into the URL to Post to input, add the body, and then click the Save Changes button
The body must appear exactly as follows, where at least one of "customer_id" or "cio_id" is required:

Step 12. Click Done
Step 13. Choose "Send Automatically" for the sending behavior and click the Save button
Step 14. Click Next
Step 15. Select "Skip goal" and click the Save & Next button
Step 16. Select "Future additions only" under Who should match? and click the Start Campaign button
Step 17. Back in mailfloss, click the checkbox that you have completed the instructions, then click the button to turn on Superfloss.
Please note Superfloss is for real-time operations only. For bulk import/cleaning operations, see this article. Please do not send large batches of email addresses to the provided webhook address.
